OVERVIEW

This program is suitable for actors with a solid foundation of training who wish to develop their analysis skills and deepen their understanding of film performance. Actors are given the opportunity to work with an acclaimed Australian director who understands the actor’s process and can support actors to their best work.

This class focuses wholly on advanced film performance. Actors will learn how to nurture a collaborative relationship with a director, develop a greater insight into script analysis and dynamic rehearsal processes, and how to translate these skills in the performance. Actors will gain invaluable knowledge on how to best fulfill a director’s vision for the scene and story as a whole.

Actors will enhance their process of work and develop greater ease with the camera and the technical demands of film craft.

TERM 2, 2012:
This term is taught by an award-winning writer/director of film and television who has a Masters in Directing from AFTRS.

Actors will be cast in scenes from well-crafted screenplays that will challenge them and may be used on their showreels.

The first 4 weeks of the term will see actors work in an exciting and in-depth process of rehearsal and preparation. The scenes will be filmed in the final 4 weeks of term.

The shoot will take place at the studio with a dedicated film crew, ensuring that camera coverage and sound are of high quality. All actors will receive their raw footage and may choose to edit their own scenes or have 16th Street provide this service (additional cost).

This class is capped at 14 participants.
