OVERVIEW
This technique is one that grounds the actor, placing them within their body and creating a state conducive to accessing the senses and emotions, which are vital to authentic and vibrant work. This program applies sensory choices to scenes putting together the fundamentals of a solid acting technique building on the foundations of Lee Strasberg’s work, through scene study.
The teacher for this class trained at the famed Strasberg Institute in New York and has a wealth of experience in practising and training this technique.
PROGRAM CONTENT
The Strasberg Technique proposes that is a waste of an actor’s creative energy to bring anything other than their own emotional life and history into their work. Artists in every field utilise and build from their imaginative and emotional worlds in the act of creation – and acting is no different.
These classes are vibrant and creative platforms from which to explore your rich inner life and utilise personal experience in the production of art. Classes provide skills for the actor to achieve self-guided preparation, allowing for surprising and effective choices in characterisation. It draws upon emotional authenticity through sense memory, which offers a method for the actor to connect with their character through shared emotional and sensory experience.
This scene study class allows actors to create sensory realities from given circumstances within a scene as an access point to the work. These classes further work towards empowering actors to be in their bodies rather than intellectualising their work. The objective is always to be in service of truth and, more importantly, how one can add intrinsic value to each scene through imaginative choices.
ALLOCATED CLASSES
We take great care to ensure all actors are working in a challenging environment. All applicants meet with the Creative Director before being allocated the appropriate class. To enrol in this scene study class, you must have completed the Sensory Class or previous Strasberg work.
