This isn’t just another scene study – it’s an opportunity to refine your artistry and discover the final, essential touches that elevate your performance.
Over four days, actors will elevate scene work while exploring new exercises to deepen their connection to character and craft with Associate Artistic Director Harry Haynes. Actors arrive having completed their own extensive preparation, ready to make a bold and fully realised first pass at the scene. From there, Harry will workshop powerful and transformative techniques, applied in the space.

HARRY HAYNES
Harry Haynes is a director, producer and educator whose work moves at the intersection of rigorous actor training and bold contemporary theatre directing. As the Associate Artistic Director of 16th Street Actors Studio, Harry is a driving force behind the studio’s artistic vision, developing new programs, nurturing emerging talent, and shaping the next generation ofAustralian actors and directors.
Trained in London and deeply influenced by the European and British traditions Harry was the recipient of The Sir John Gielgud Award and was awarded the Leverhulme award for excellence in Performing Arts. Harry’s work is built on a foundation of ensemble, psychological detail, and a commitment to human-centred storytelling. His directing spans intimate chamber pieces to ambitious, immersive worlds. From 2018 he has made Theatre under the moniker The Liminal Space highlights include the acclaimed immersive two part theatre event MYSTERIES with Creative Victoria, City of Melbourne and Testing Grounds and the world premier of CYGNETS with Theatre Works which received multiple 5 star reviews.
He is a founding director of Company 16, a respiratory theatre company that provides intergenerational exchange between established main stage actors and Australia’s most talented recent graduate actors. As Co-Director recent work includes directing a critically acclaimed modern adaptation of Miss Julie set in a Greek fine-dining kitchen, and producing Company 16’s production of John Logan’s RED.

16th Street’s intensives and courses provide actors with opportunities to hone their craft in celebrated techniques. We work alongside master teachers and highly trained acting specialists to deliver these unique courses to Melbourne.
This course is ideal for graduates and professional actors over the age of 18.
This course is available for up to 16 participants.
This class will be open to auditors on the final day.
