BACKGROUND
Tanya Schneider is a seasoned actor with more than 25 years of experience across film, television and theatre, and has been coaching actors of all ages and skill levels for over 15 years. She holds a BA in Film & TV Production from QUT, where she later taught Media Production and Directing Actors, and has contributed to a range of international television productions behind the camera. Her own actor training includes The Actors Workshop and ongoing training with master teachers such as Larry Moss, Patsy Rodenburg and Nancy Banks. Credits include Othello, The Whale, A Beautiful Highness, Grace Under Pressure, Harrow, Dear Life, Occupation, There is no Antimemetics Division and Metrosexual.
Tanya has taught at leading institutions including NIDA Open (since 2010), 16th Street Actors Studio, the fActory Acting Studio and the University of Southern Queensland, bringing a practical, industry-rooted approach to every class. Her work was recognised with the ATOM (Australian Teachers of Media) Teachers Award for a series of short films created with Indigenous youth in Cherbourg, which have screened internationally and earned multiple accolades. She is also a yoga and meditation teacher, and runs Mind ; Body actor workshops that integrate breath, body, mind and creativity, helping performers develop stronger presence, physical connection, positive mindset, creativity and flow. Tanya’s diverse experience of acting, filmmaking, education and mindfulness equips her to guide actors through the technical aspects of their craft to empower their creative process.
