16th Street Actors Studio returns with our distinctive 10-week intensive program designed to spearhead actors into the US market.

Think, speak and act The American Way

World-class experts in American dramatic culture, cinematic craft and theatre will equip you with the necessary skills, mindset and cultural understanding to integrate with Americans at work, so you can successfully act in US projects, both in the US and in Australia.

Joining us on this program are award-winning theatre and film directors and producers, Iain Sinclair, Paul Currie, Nadia Tass and Jason Raftopolous, as well as screen audition & self-tape specialist Jasper Whincop from the Les Chantery studio, and US accent & dialect specialist Matt Furlani.

We are delighted for actors to have a rare opportunity to be coached online by world-renowned US Acting Coach, Larry Moss. Specialised coaching by one of the greatest acting coaches of all time, is not to be missed. Larry will coach actors in the conclusion of the program in preparation for their public showing. Larry has coached Tony, Emmy, Golden Globe and Academy nominated and award-winning actors; including Hilary Swank, Helen Hunt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Hugh Jackman, Andrew Garfield and Nathan Lane.

Iain Sinclair

Widely recognised as one of Australia’s finest directors of actors in performance, main-stage director, dramaturg and US culture specialist, Iain will lead this program. He is Head of Acting at 16th Street.

PAST POST-GRADUATE DETAILS

The American Way is ideal for graduates of an acting program and for working actors looking to further develop their craft and work in the US market. Spaces are limited for this unique specialist program and standards for the ensemble are high.

Selection will be based on knowledge of an actor’s work or a professional CV, and the submission of a US scene or monologue. Actors may be invited to an interview/meet and greet with the studio’s artistic director. We recommend interested actors submit an application at their earliest convenience.
Applications close at 5:00 pm Friday, 30 August 2024 – ensemble places may fill prior.
