WILL HUTCHINS

Directors Apprentice 2025

Beginning his journey writing and directing short films, Will made his theatre directorial debut with the CGPC's 2024 production of ‘Blackrock’ (by Nick Enright). Other stage credits include 'Splinter' (by Callum O'Mara) and 'Gruesome Playground Injuries' (by Rajiv Joseph), both of which he co-directed in 2024.

During our Directors Apprenticeship, Will Hutchins served as dramaturg on Company 16s production of ‘Miss Julie’ directed by Harry Haynes. “This production is surprising, moving, tense and emotional.” - Artshub. He was then attached as Assistant Director on Red Stitch’s ‘Job’, directed by Nadia Tass. “... dramatic, alarming, provocative, oh so compelling and brilliantly executed - one of Red Stitch's finest works." - The Blurb

For his graduating piece, Will is directing Baby Teeth by Rita Kalnejais. A story both hilarious and tragic, Rita's characters bubble on the precipice of the deepest despair yet demonstrate time and time again that their capacity to love and find beauty in the world can never be broken. “This, to me, in a time of great isolation, distraction and unrest, is a subject most worthy of our attention.” - Will Hutchins
